Marco Asensio Opens Up On Future

tennis player

Marco Asensio opened up about his future in an interview with Marca. The Spanish winger has kept his options open for now and insisted that he is taking things one at a time.

He was signed by Real Madrid from Mallorca in 2014 after some impressive performances. After a couple of loans, he made his debut for the Los Blancos in the 2016/17 season. He impressed many and was touted as the next star of the Bernebeu.

But a terrible injury in 2019 hampered his progress. He was out for nearly a year, and when he returned, he was nowhere near his previous level. Although he has chipped in from time to time, he has found himself second choice to Rodrygo in recent times. This has prompted speculation on whether his future lies in Real Madrid or elsewhere. Manchester United are said to be fans of the winger.

What Marco Asensio Has Said about his future

Asensio claimed that he has “three possibilities” in his interview while on international duty.

I am focused on the national team. When this concentration is over, we will talk. We will see what I will do with my future. Renew or leave Real Madrid? I think there are three possibilities, there is also the option to stay and fulfil my contract year. My future does not have to depend on whether or not I will have a place in the next World Cup. Rumours are part of football, and more so at Real Madrid. High-level players are always associated with it. Many players come out every summer and it’s something we have to live with.

With a year left on his contract, it will be interesting to see what happens with Marco Asensio. Earlier, when Kylian Mbappe was strongly linked to Real Madrid, Asensio’s time seemed to be up. But now that the deal did not happen, perhaps he has one more chance to establish himself in the team.
