Marcus Rashford: Manchester’s prince who never became the king

Marcus Rashford who was once claimed to be one of the top prospects in football is in a difficult position now. The 27-year old was left out from Man United’s squad against Man City and Tottenham. The Englishman hasn’t performed as per the expectations of the new manager. The atmosphere regarding him is cold at the moment.

The decision to drop him from two consecutive fixtures against two big teams speaks volumes. Several pundits have criticized his professionalism and discipline. This is not the first time he has been the subject of this matter. Fans are now divided in opinions on whether Rashford should continue at Old Trafford or not. He is set to become yet another “What if” player if he doesn’t redeem his career soon.

Rashford to the middle East?

According to reports as per the Sun, several clubs from Saudi Arabia are interested in Marcus Rashford. Al Ahli and Al Ittihad have observed the cold atmosphere regarding him and have decided to swoop in. Given Rashford’s time is running out at Old Trafford, can he redeem himself at Saudi?

Rashford is still 27 and is in his prime age of playing football. His priority should be to compete at the top level in Europe. Paris Saint Germain were always admirers of Marcus. However, things have changed and they are less likely to show the same interest now. The biggest problem for his suitors are his massive wages that he earns at United.

Rashford’s ยฃ325,000 per week contract ends at 2028, the winger will therefore try to find some other club. As things stand, he is out of favour at Man United. The Red Devils are already looking for new forwards in the transfer market to replace Rashford. His future at his boyhood club is certainly very uncertain now.

The downfall of the rising star in Manchester

Marcus Rashford has been one of the finest academy products of Manchester United. He was also tipped to compete with the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Haaland at some point. However, injuries and lack of discipline let his promising career to a huge “what if?”

Despite all adversities, in Erik Ten Hag’s debut season at United he was simply sensational. Rashford netted 30 goals in that season and it looked as if the “prince of Manchester” is finally back to his original best. Life works in mysterious ways for all of us. Following such a successful season, he slumped yet again next season and failed to make an impact.

Him constantly being on the headlines for all the wrong reasons has definitely put a negative impact on the mentality of the player. He has struggled to get going and is in a risk of his career ending at the top level in Europe. Ruben Amorim has also complained about his lack of professionalism and discipline. It’s also upto Rashford to redeem himself, he has to show positive mentality in order to survive in this team. Him losing confidence isn’t helping at all in this situation.

Author’s Opinion:

I feel that Marcus Rashford should not lose the faith in his abilities and work harder than ever to cement his spot at Manchester United. His aim must be to remain in Europe and continue playing at the top level. Saudi Arabia at this age is simply ridiculous for someone like Rashford.

If he doesn’t get play time, he should aim to move to some European club competing in the top level. Serie-A and La Liga is always a great option for a player like Rashford. He can try to redeem his career there.
