According to reports, Paris Saint-Germain will make an effort to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United this month.
The Parisians have shown an interest in the English winger and want to snap him up before the summer transfer window closes at the beginning of September.
Last time around, Rashford had a dismal campaign for the Red Devils. He was unable to secure a regular starting position under Ralf Rangnick as Manchester United stumbled to a sixth-place Premier League finish with their lowest points tally in the Premier League era.
Due to his well-reported troubles on the field, Rashford, who is in the final year of his contract at Old Trafford, has been touted by many to depart Manchester United. The Times also claims that PSG intends to pay United a transfer fee and give the player a long-term contract. They apparently want to bolster their forward line, which includes the likes of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr.
What Went Wrong For Rashford?
Marcus Rashford has had a poor couple of seasons lately. He was one of the most hyped youngsters in England when he burst onto the scene. The Englishman seemed to be at the peak of his powers in 2019/20, especially after the arrival of Bruno Fernandes. Rashford registered 17 goals and 7 assists in the league.
However, he did face some fitness troubles. Rashford was having another brilliant campaign in 2020/21, but he played through injuries, aggravating them. It led to a decline in his performances, but he still finished with 11 goals and 9 assists.
After a wretched Euro 2020, where he could barely make the starting line-up and missed a penalty in the final, Rashford was not able to continue the growth he had shown. His last season was poor, and he is yet to open his account this season as well. Perhaps a change of scenery can revitalize him and help him get back to his best.
