Chelsea boss, Enzo Maresca, is delighted with the team’s performance after the Blues scored five goals in the Carabao Cup third round against Barrow. The Blues won their third match in a row across all competitions, scored nine goals, and conceded zero. Enzo Maresca’s project with Chelsea starts working as the team is coming up with good results.
The former Leicester City boss joined the Blues in the summer as their new head coach after Mauricio Pochettino left the club before the start of the summer transfer window. Maresca spent a huge amount of money in the summer transfer window to bring some of the best talents to Chelsea. No club in the summer transfer window has spent more money than Chelsea. Maresca signed players according to his needs.
However, it was not a good start for Maresca with the new club as Chelsea only managed to win one match out of six preseason friendlies. The Premier League campaign also started not on a positive note as the Blues lost their opening match at Stamford Bridge against defending champion Manchester City. However, since then the Blues have shown why they spent this much amount of money on the transfer window. Since their opening-day loss to Manchester City, the Blues have won all their matches in the Premier League. Enzo Maresac gradually getting his rhythm back as Chelsea are producing good results.
Recently, the Blues crushed league two side Barrow in the Carabao Cup third round after scoring five goals against them. Chelsea striker Christopher Nkunku scored a hattrick in the match. along with Pedro Neto who also scored a goal in the match.
The Frenchman has scored six goals in his nine appearances across all competitions this season. Nkunku suffered most part of the last season with injuries which kept him out of the team mostly. However, this season is totally different for the Chelsea striker under the new manager Enzo Maresca. Maresca also showed his faith in him.
Enzo Maresca is focusing on young talents
While Maresca is using more players in the Current Chelsea squad, the Italian also emphasized keeping his backup players ready for the season. Chelsea signed 11 new players in the summer transfer window and most of them under the age limit of 21. So, both Chelsea and Maresca have talented young people who are ready for the backup options in the squad.
Let’s understand this with the help of one single position. Chelsea are using Nicolas Jackson as their main striker. However, the Blues have other options including two newly signed players Omary Kellyman and Marc Guiu. So, there is no doubt that Chelsea have some serious backup options in the squad for every single position.
