The Gunners have agreed on their second move of the summer for Martin Zubimendi, ahead of club agreeing bid without hesitation.
Martin Zubimendi in the Premier League soon
The north London side are now looking to make things happen in the summer window. They are already working on transfers for the next season. As per multiple reports, they have already agreed on two deals. The buying club is set to accept their offer without any hesitation in Arsenal’s second deal of the summer.
The Gunners currently sit on second place in the Premier League. They’re 13 points behind the league leaders Liverpool. That means they are likely to be out of the title race. With only 11 games to play, it seems impossible for them to catch the Reds. Head coach Mikel Arteta had to go through hard times with injuries to his key stars. They’re currently without their four senior first-team forwards. The likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Martinelli have been out of the team for a while now.
Last night, they played a goalless draw against Nottingham Forest. Arteta spoke in the post-match conference about the game. He said that “they’re adapting the quality that we have.” They only have the Champions League title to fight for this campaign. It is expected that for the next season, they’ll be working to sign some new players in the summer.
With Martin Zubimendi, another La Liga player to join Arsenal
Several players will be expected to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer. The likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko, Kieran Tierney, Leandro Trossard, Jakub Kiwior and Reiss Nelson are all set for an exit. Meanwhile, first-team stars such as Thomas Partey and Jorginho, are both out of contract.
With the expectation of either of the midfielders really leaving, The Mail reported some exclusive news. Sami Mokbel, The Mail journalist, claimed that a move for the Spanish international Martin Zubimendi was ‘virtually complete’. And now it seems like the next deal is already on the move too.
AS, a Spanish Outlet reported that Espanyol goalkeeper, Joan Garcia is linked with the English club from the last year. The Gunners were on terms with the Spanish goalkeeper last term. But they failed to sign him due to not accepting on the player’s release clause. Later, they landed Bournemouth’s stopper Neto on a loan move.
Now, AS claims that Garcia could be heading towards England in the summer. The outlet suggests that there’s a great chance that he will be alongside his national teammate David Raya next season. Raya is considered as one of the best goalkeepers in the world right now. The Spanish side has already rejected the €20 million offer for the keeper last summer. Although, as per reports Espanyol would now accept a similar offer, ‘without hesitation’.
Arteta’s press conference highlights
Mikel Arteta spoke to the reporters before their game against Nottingham Forest in the midweek.
On asked whether Saka and Martinelli will be back soon, he said: “I think so but let’s see how they go. They are evolving well.
“We have a meeting tomorrow to see where they are, especially Gabby, he has a chance to be back before Bukayo.”
On asked if the pair would return before the international break, he said: ” I don’t think so.”
When questioned about their struggle to score and the set-piece issues, Arteta said: “We have another day or two now before the PSV game, especially a team in this low block. There will be opponents much better than us probably in a very different state.
“We have two big chances from there. We generated much more, but its true it has to go in the net.”
Author’s Opinion
Zubimendi will be a great addition to the north London side. Hopefully they’ll get him to have a higher impact as soon as possible.
After the failure in the January window, Arsenal will make sure that they don’t repeat that mistake in the summer. They are expected to bring in new faces to the Emirates as several players are set to leave the club.
