Arsenal are confident in signing the Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi in the summer window.
Arteta is sure about Martin Zubimendi
The north London side‘s head coach Mikel Arteta would have gained a full understanding of Martin Zubimendi’s finest attributes. He had an amazing game on Sunday evening in the Spain’s UEFA Nations League win over Netherlands.
Arsenal links alongside Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Liverpool have been strong over the past few transfer windows. But the 26-year-old has opted to ignore all offers. And he continues to play for his boyhood club.
Yet, Real is struggling in La Liga and is now out of Europe. The time seems to be right for the Spaniard to move on. A transfer to England appears to be on the cards.
Just last summer, the Real Sociedad midfielder rejected a move to Liverpool. There he would have been Arne Slot’s first signing. With the Reds he would’ve been attacking and playing for the Anfield club.
It is reported the Spanish international does have a release clause of £51million in his contract at Real.
Midfield replacements for the Gunners
Zubimendi is expected to replace both Partey and Jorginho in the midfield. As Partey and Jorginho will leave at the end of their contracts in June 2023.
Arteta had to miss one chance to watch him in the Europa League match against Manchester United. As the player was ill. But he was able to watch him this past Sunday.
The 26-year-old player played 105 minutes of a thrilling Nations League match for Spain against the Netherlands. Spain won in a penalty shootout. Luckily for Arsenal, Declan Rice is arguably one of the best players when the ball is on his foot.
Creating attacks will be one of the primary responsibilities for Zubimendi. Though his number one job will be to stop the opposition from even starting to attack. With that in mind, the Gunners manager is likely well aware of who he is purchasing. As he is set to lose two defensive midfielders in the summer of 2023.
