Pakistan batting sensation Shaan Masood is set to become the captain of Yorkshire for the white ball season in 2023. Gibson told the media that Masood will be named the captain of the Surrey team. It was a collective decision from the management to appoint him as the captain.

Masood had a brilliant season with Yorkshire this season. He was exceptional with the bat and scored handy runs when the team needed him to score. He will replace Tattersall as the captain.
Following Steve Patterson’s departure in late July, Jonny Tattersall led Yorkshire through the remaining two months of the summer, with the seamer playing his farewell game earlier this week.

Patterson, who announced his departure from Yorkshire earlier this summer, has now formally retired, despite saying he had offers to continue playing from other Division One team.

“I have made the painful decision to retire from professional cricket,”

he told the Yorkshire CCC website.

He further added,

“After being told I was no longer wanted by the club, I took the time to consider my next step.
“Although I was offered the opportunity to play Division One cricket elsewhere, I had to listen to my body and my heart.”
“I simply don’t feel I have the energy or the passion to play for any other club.”

Shaan Masood has a massive opportunity to lead the side. He has not captained his domestic side a lot. It will be a stern test for him to take Surrey across the line.
