Arsenal update as Matheus Cunha delivers another clear message with Liverpool’s weakness now revealed.
Matheus Cunha with yet another brilliant performance
Wolves‘ star gives another moment of magic in their game against Liverpool on Sunday. Cunha delivers yet another great performance but it won’t change a lot in the title race.
If it wasn’t for him then the weekend would have been quite frustrating for the Gunners. Within just 24 hours of their late, dramatic win against Leicester City, Arsenal’s celebration would have been short-lived.
Luis Diaz scored in the first fifteen minutes into the game. And a Mo Salah penalty gave the Reds 2-0 win at home over Wolves. That victory means the seven-point gap at the top has opened again. The Gunners were hoping to reduce the gap to only a single point be the coming weekend if results went their way. Although, that dream was short-lived and the title race is again shifted quickly.
The West London club defeated West Ham United with a scoreline of 2-0 on Saturday. Given that, if Liverpool were to lose at Anfield that would have put a lot of pressure on Arne Slot’s team to comeback after a sad week. They will play Man City in their away game next week at the Etihad Stadium. The Reds have already dropped vital points on Wednesday against Everton in the Merseyside derby.
Matheus Cunha almost gifted a present to Arsenal
In Wolves match against Liverpool, the Reds were dominating the whole game. The first half was fully controlled by Slot’s side comfortably. But the game started to shift in second half towards Wolves as they tried to get back in to the match.
The Brazilian striker was the trying to make things happen for his team. He scored an amazing goal with his left foot to lead his side for a fightback at Anfield. His performance shows why so many top sides, including Arsenal, are interested in him. Clubs are willing to go more than ยฃ50 million to get his signature.
Vitor Pereira’s post-match press conference
Wolves’ manager Vitor Pereira had some questions on the officiating from referee Simon Hooper in the Wolves vs Liverpool match.
After the match, Pereira said: “I had some doubts on some decisions, but I cannot change the decisions. It’s football. I cannot complain because the game finished.
“I can do nothing about it. It’s time to start thinking about the next game and to take something positive from this game.
He then added: “The lesson is we are the team that I saw in the second half. The first half was a team that I didn’t recognise on the pitch.
“The first half was a team afraid, with too much respect, in my opinion, and this is not our game. We cannot come to Anfield just to be part of the party.
“I will think about the next game, and in the next game I will push my team to play as I saw my team playing in the second half.”
“This is football, but I believe that when we play good football, with identity, with our tools, with our qualities, we deserve to get something from football.
“I want to win games with merit. I want to win games because we deserve to win. The second half was fantastic, in my opinion. It was the team that I want to build.”
