Ralf Ragnick in his press conference ahead of Manchester United and Liverpool’s clash revealed that Matic have decided to leave Old Trafford.
Nemanja Matic on his Instagram announced his departure by the end of the current campaign.
He said,
“After a great deal of thought, I’ve decided that this season will be my last with Manchester United. I have informed the board, the manager, and the players about my decision. It has been a huge honor and a privilege to play for this great club. A big thank you to the fans for their unwavering support. It will now give everything until the end of the season to help my teammates finish as strongly as possible.”
The 33-year-old Serbian international joined the red devils in 2017 for €31 million. Making 183 appearances for United but never managed to lift a trophy during his stay at United.
With 27 appearances this season across all formats and not enough games Matic’s decision is to leave.
Matic played a crucial part in United’s run in the 2018 FA Cup which they lost to his former team, Chelsea. Played as an anchor in the midfield of the Europa League which they lost on penalties (11-10).

Meanwhile, AS Roma has been monitoring Matic.
According to Tuttomercatoweb representatives from Roma have already contacted the former blues player.
AS Roma’s interest in Matic is quite obvious as his transfer took place when Jose Mourinho was in charge.
Matic would be a perfect fit for the midfield of Mourinho’s AS Roma.
Matic may appear against his former club before he departs from United on 29th April in which the blues are set to travel to Old Trafford which will be a key clash for the red devils in the quest to ensure champions league game time next season.
By the end of this season, Man United will have five players out of contract.
This includes the likes of Pogba, and Lingard, while Cristiano’s future with United is hanging on a string.
