Max Verstappen feels he needs three to five wins to wrap up the title this season. Verstappen took a big leap towards the championship as he extended his advantage to 63 points.

Verstappen cruised to victory in Le Castellet while his title rival Charles Leclerc spun and crashed out of the race.

Ferrari ace Leclerc had qualified on pole for the French Grand Prix. He got a good getaway and kept Verstappen at bay during the opening part of the race. When the first round of pitstop came Verstappen pitted early while Leclerc stayed out and pushed to build a gap to pit. Leclerc ended up pushing too hard and spun his Ferrari into the barriers.

Verstappen then stormed to victory while Leclerc ruled a costly mistake.

With an imposing 63-point lead heading into the summer break, Verstappen feels he needs three to five wins to grab the title.

“Three to five more victories needed [to seal the title],”

However, Verstappen knows winning in Hungary will be tough as the circuit suits the Ferrari a lot. Hungaroring is a circuit with lots of slow and medium corners in which Ferrari excels.

Ferrari Team boss Mattia Binotto said that the Prancing Horses were aiming for a 1-2 finish in Hungaroring in a bid to fight back in the championship.

Verstappen expects Ferrari to be extremely quick around the Hungaroring. According to the Dutchman, Red Bull have no chance against Ferrari’s pace in the dry. However, with rains forecasted, the weather might mix up things.

Verstappen will want to end the first part of the season on a high and maintain, if not increase his points gap. Verstappen knows that beating Ferrari in Hungary will be tough and he’ll be looking at damage limitation. But post-Hungary if the gap is not slashed significantly, Verstappen will know he’s closer to his second title more than ever.
