According to Sky Sports reporter Melissa Reddy, Manchester United have narrowed down their potential manager target list to just four managers.
The Manchester United faithful are already looking forward to the next season. The red devils have now gone five seasons without any trophies. The expectations around Old Trafford were quite high at the start of the season. After the club had quite a successful transfer window. But things have not gone quite to plan at Old Trafford.
The club sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjær midway through the season after quite a disappointing first half of the season. The club brought in Ralf Rangnick as the interim manager until the end of the season. The German manager is going to move to an advisory role at the end of the season. The club can best hope for a top-four finish at the end of the season.
The search for a new manager has already started at Old Trafford. The Manchester United hierarchy wants to get the decisions absolutely right this time around. The appointment of the new manager is the first step of the rebuild to happen around Old Trafford at the start of next season.
What did Melissa Reddy say about the Manchester United manager situation?
Speaking on Sky Sports about the Manchester United manager situation ahead of the summer transfer window, Melissa Reddy said:
“The men they are doing due diligence on, Mauricio Pochettino, Erik ten Hag, Julen Lopetegui and Luis Enrique. Now two of those names will stand out more than most, Pochettino and ten Hag. They are the favourites.
“We are told by senior sources. That it would be a surprise. If it didn’t come down to one of those two potentials to be the next man in charge at Old Trafford.”
Manchester United set to interview all the manager candidates
According to reports, the Manchester United hierarchy are set to interview all four manager candidates on their list. The club have already interviewed Ajax manager Erik ten Hag for the potential manager role. Firstly, reports suggest that the club were happy with ten Hag’s level of English speaking. Secondly, Erik ten Hag asked the club about the transfer budget, transfer targets, and football project.
The Ajax manager seems the clear favorite to take over at Old Trafford at the start of next term. But the club are still set to interview all the remaining manager transfer target in the upcoming weeks.
