Premier League side Arsenal are going to welcome French champions, PSG, in the Champions League for the second matchday. Arsenal drew their first match in the Champions League with Italian side Atalanta. On the other hand, PSG managed to win their opening match after beating Spanish side, Girona. Both these heavyweights are still unbeaten in this season. While Arsenal are third in the Premier League, PSG are currently leading the table without a loss. So, there is no doubt that this will be a great clash in the Champions League.
Mikel Arteta is about to face his former club PSG
Apart from these big clubs’ story, one more story needs to be covered. That is the story of Mikel Arteta. Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will face his former club PSG. Mikel Arteta used to be a PSG player at the start of his professional career. The Spaniard joined the French side at the age of 18 as a loan player after leaving Barcelona B. During the 2000-01 season, Arteta went to PSG on an 18-month-long loan. PSG was struggling at that time. However, the club had some of the best talent of that time including Mauricio Pochettino, Gabriel Heinze, Jay Jay Okocha, and Nicolas Anelka. Later Arteta also played with Brazilian star Ronaldinho at PSG. The Spaniard made his professional debut with PSG in February 2001.
Mikel Arteta joined joined Barcelona B in 1999. The Spaniard spent three years there before moving to PSG and made 42 appearances with Barcelona B. However, it was very difficult to get any chance in the senior FC Barcelona squad due to the huge number of talents the club had at that time. So, a loan move to a club was needed for him and finally, he joined PSG. Mikel Arteta had a great time with PSG during his loan spell. However, as per the rule, he has to come back to Barcelona. After 18 months of a loan spell, Mikel Arteta came back to Barcelona.
Mikel Arteta never faced PSG in his professional career ever again. However, as a manager, the Spaniard is going to face PSG as Arsenal will welcome the French side this week in the Champions League. Two former Barcelona players Luis Enrique and Mikel Arteta are going to head to head with their respective team in the Champions League. Both the manager are still unbeaten in their respective league.

PSG scored 20 goals this season till now and conceded only 5 in the French league. On the other hand, Arsenal scored 12 and conceded 5 in the Premier League. Both the teams are in great form. The last time these two sides met was back in November 2016 when the match ended with a 2-2 draw. Arsenal will definitely want a win after their draw in the opening fixtures of the Champions League with Atalanta. On the other hand, PSG narrowly beat Girona to kick off their Champions League campaign. PSG are eager to continue that winning run in the Champions League.
