Mitoma Transfer Rumors: Can Chelsea Land Brighton’s Star?

And Chelsea’s rollercoaster season has not mattered to anybody, with their European hopes among those lost more quickly than the Sunday league keeper’s wet gloves. However, there is some light at the end of the tunnel in the form of Brighton & Hove Albion’s Kaoru Mitoma. The Japanese maestro has now become the talk of Stamford Bridge after tearing Chelsea apart in their most recent meeting. Jamie Carragher called it a Messi-like goal but it was also a full on sales pitch for whoever scored it; His dazzling goal.

Besides just a winger running fast, looking good while doing that, Mitoma is not. He has vision, precision and the kind of footwork that makes defenders question their life choices. Mitoma could be the missing piece for Chelsea, although the latter have been about as cohesive as the group chat with 200 unread messages.

Mitoma’s €80m Price Tag: Bargain or Bust?

Brighton don’t usually offer discounts, and Mitoma won’t come cheap either. Chelsea will have to choose if they are buying a future legend or simply another name to tick off their transfer market bingo card as the Seagulls reportedly want €80 million for the 32-year-old.

The twist, however, is that Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr is lurking and will back up the Brinks truck. The cash and the persuading power (whatever happened to half of Europe’s ex-stars now sunning themselves in the sun). The sides also turned down a £90m [€104m] offer for Mitoma and he spends time on the contract list, every player has value… even if it’s written with gold ink.

Why Chelsea NEEDS him (Like, Yesterday)

Are we completely deluded to say that Chelsea’s attack has been as sharp as a butter knife this season? Fans are wondering whether they should just go in and blast away from the parking lot rather than keep wasting opportunities. Winger Mitoma hits the ground: pace, creativity and also the ability to turn it on for his defenders.

Arrival of Mitoma could be that spark which Chelsea have been desperately missing. But his work ethic, flair and the trend for game changing moments could change the Blues’ fortune. However, Chelsea’s transfer luck will probably see them hold out to the wire, because who doesn’t enjoy deadline day chaos?
