Liverpool’s star forward Mohamed Salah has signed a new two-year contract with the club.
Mohamed Salah signs a new contract
Liverpool have shared the news which their fans were desperately waiting for. They have confirmed that Mo Salah has extended his stay with a new two-year deal at Anfield.
There were rumours of him leaving the club at the end of this season throughout this term. However, he has ended those talks by signing his contract extension.
The 33-year-old striker has agreed on a new contract which will keep him with the Reds until 2027. He will turn 35 by the time his new deal ends.
The good news has emerged after all those rumours and increasing issues for Arne Slot’s side. He was expected to leave the Merseyside team on a free in June.
His stay will surely have a great impact in the squad. They are currently leading the Premier League title race as they are on the top of the points table. Arsenal are placed second with a 11 point gap between them and Liverpool.
Salah is already in Liverpool’s history books
Mohamed Salah will remain at Liverpool for the next two years of his current contract. Only two players in the club’s history having scored more goals than he has so far for the Merseyside team.
Only Ian Rush and Roger Hunt have scored more goals than Salah in the history of Liverpool. And Salah can at least look ahead to passing Hunt. And that will take him to second place in total goals scored for the Reds.
The Egyptian joined the Premier League side from AS Roma in 2017 summer. He is Liverpool’s third all-time top scorer. He has managed to score 234 goals in his 394 appearances so far. Additionally, he has been the Premier League Golden Boot winner three times.
Now he will be trying to add more trophies to his name during the next two years at Anfield.
