Mohammed Kudus found himself in the spotlight yet again. After an eye-catching display in West Ham‘s comeback against Liverpool at Anfield, he has impressed everyone.
The forward has been on the radar of Liverpool boss Arne Slot for a while now. In the days before the weekend, both Slot and Virgil van Dijk praised his versatility and ability.
The 24-year-old striker has the ability to play many offensive roles. That was obvious as Slot was very much impressed by him. The Reds head coach said that he has talent in taking on multiple aspects of the game.
Van Dijk also noticed the Hammers’ star. He also noted that he was one of the key players for West Ham alongside Lucas Paqueta.
They both were declaring their free roles made them have a much tougher time marking. This performance will only increase the already present speculation regarding a Liverpool approach for the versatile forward.
The winger’s ยฃ85 million release clause
Reports suggest that a player like Kudus might be available in the summer. He has an ยฃ85 million release clause in his contract with West Ham. That is a lot of money.
But, the Merseyside club has been a long-time admirer of the player. So, perhaps they would consider paying it.
There is no doubt that the West Ham winger can fill many attacking locations. He will be a decent fit in Liverpool’s current tactical formations under Arne Slot.
It is unclear if the ยฃ85 million release clause would be hefty enough for Slot’s side. Especially, after breaking the club-record fee for Darwin Nunez in 2022.
Nevertheless, The Reds may still be able to negotiate with Graham Potter’s side. The Hammers might also need to sell depending on how they finish in the league.
The Ghanaian’s contract runs until 2028, plus an option. And could be a huge part of Slot’s summer offensive line at Anfield.
