Must-Read: Pochettino’s Jaw-Dropping Announcement – Chelsea’s Ace Defender Returns

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino hints the return of defender Marc Cucurella into the squad. It will mark the debut start for the full-back in this calendar year. The Argentine said in his pre-match press conference that defender Marc Cucurella is in contention to be involved as he completes his return from injury.

The former Brighton man was last seen limping off due to injury against Everton in December in a 0-2 defeat. Although the injury seemed to be a minor one, the Spanish international will be back after three months. Owing to his absence, Pochettino was in a scarcity for his options at the left. Only Ben Chilwell was the only natural position player, who himself is injury-driven at times.

Cucurella nearing a return to Chelsea

Speaking in his pre-match conference, the Blues boss conveys the good news of his return as well as for Thiago Silva. He said,

“We need to assess him and Marc Cucurella. Maybe it is possible that they could be involved in the squad. Good news. If they will be possible to be in the squad.”

The Brazilian was out of action owing to his own problems, which saw him missing the EFL Cup final against Liverpool. The heat of the game demanded a player of his calibre as the magnitude of the game was too heavy for a considerably inexperienced Chelsea side. Nevertheless, it will be intriguing to see what will these two men cause in the defence line for the West London club.

Chelsea are currently getting into more and more troubles in terms of their respectable finish. The Blues dropped points from a winning position against Thomas Frank’s Brentford in a 2-2 draw. They will now prepare for their upcoming FA Cup fixtures for the only hope of this season’s silverware.
