There are many examples in the footballing world where players received a finding of not guilty due to contaminated supplements or accidental ingestion. If that is the case here, punishing the player would be unjust act.
Still, this situation emphasizes the scrutiny under which professional athletes operate. Players are accountable for what goes into their bodies. Even accidental errors can have dire repercussions.
Chelsea’s reaction has been measured. Their support of Mudryk in public, though without downplaying the severity of the accusation, smacked of maturity. The club has opted for transparency, which should be commended.
