Napoli turn down €65 million January bid for striker having 162 G/A, one of Chelsea’s targets.
Napoli rejects permanent deal offer
The January transfer market is heading towards its final days. As per reports, Napoli have turned down a €65 million offer for Victor Osimhen.
Chelsea were the favorites to sign Osimhen in October last year. Apparently, things have changed particularly for the Blues from that time.
Another English side seem to be interested in the striker. Arsenal have been working on a offer for him this month. Man Utd were also claimed to be monitoring the player.
As per reports by Corriere dello Sport, Osimhen has his release clause valid from January. The only club that can get the Nigerian attacker for a low fee are Galatasaray.
Reportedly, the clause for January is worth €81 million. Given the Super Eagles have the right to a compensation of €6 million if Victor leaves for any other team in the middle of the season.
That’s the sole reason why the Turkish side can sign him for €75 million this month. Other clubs can sign him for the same fee in the next summer.
Initially the forward’s clause was worth €130 million. It was reduced last summer. It was done when the player signed a new deal with Napoli. After that he went to Turkey on loan.
Napoli not willing to let off Osimhen
The centre-forward has 162 goals/assists contributions. He has crossed that number in just 243 career games till date. There’s no doubt why he has so much demand in Europe.
However, the team from Naples is not going to let him go that easily. They are trying so hard for their forward to not leave at his market value.
They were forced to drop his asking price of €120 million to €75 million last year. Still there were no takers at the time. Eventually he went on loan to Galatasaray.
He joined the Turkish outfit on loan in September 2024. Before that he was linked with Al-Ahli, PSG and Chelsea.
Due to not having an option to buy, he’ll leave Galatasaray and return to the Naples in summer. Although, it is expected that he will not stay for long at the Stadio Maradona.
Galatasaray’s €65m offer
The Super Eagles have made a €65 million offer for the Nigeria international this month. However, Antonio Conte’s club have firmly declined the offer. They are waiting for the interested teams to come around the €75 million offer.
Before the end of the transfer window, anyone can sign Osimhen if they offer the expected amount. Till then he will play the remaining 24/25 season in the Super Lig.
Some of the top Premier League sides have to comply with their Profit and Sustainability Rules. That rules out some of the top English clubs from making any bids.
There will surely be a number of teams for his signature in the summer. They might be willing to pay his release clause for his services.
At that time it’ll be up to the player to choose which club he wants to join. He will have the power to look for projects of his choice. Those will be the peak years of his career.
As of now Victor is on loan at Galatasaray until the end of this season. The Turkish club do not have any option to sign him permanently.
