According to The Chelsea Chronicle, Napoli striker Victor Osimhen can finally make his move to Premier League side Chelsea. It’s been very long since Chelsea is pursuing the man who led Napoli to Scudetto in a very long time. Victor Osimhen was the top scorer for Napoli in their title winning season and a very important part of the squad. The Nigerian striker was also a fan favorite in Italy after his amazing performances every week. Victor Osimhen is linked to many big clubs in every transfer window due to his ability and potential to become one of the best players in the world.
However, many big clubs decide to back away from signing the striker. One of the big reasons is the Nigerian’s price tag set by Napoli. Victor Osimhen is arguably the best striker in the world currently. Napoli won’t let the striker go without a big money move. The striker’s price tag can be met by very few clubs in the world. Real Madrid were also one of the clubs that were interested in the Napoli striker. However, after signing Kylian Mbappe on a free this summer, the Spanish giants will surely back off from the deal. This opens the doors for other big clubs.
Napoli striker can move to Chelsea this summer
Chelsea recently sold Conor Gallagher to Atletico Madrid. This free up some space in the squad to sign more players. New Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca was not very sure about signing Victor Osimhen. The manager is still not clear about how to integrate the Nigerian striker in his system. However after watching Chelsea’s situation last season it is clear a world class striker is required in the squad. Current Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson is a decent player. However the youngster still struggles with his ability to provide an end product.
Victor Osimhen’s problems with Napoli started when the club posted a potentially offensive joke on the striker. The joke was not taken well by Osimhen and his agent. Since then it is speculated that the striker will leave the club very soon. Napoli are also struggling with their finances currently and it can be difficult to pay the striker’s wages next season. Napoli manager Antonio Conte also want Romelu Lukaku as his striker next season. Conte won the Serie A with Lukaku as his striker for Inter Milan. This also makes the business with Chelsea an exciting prospect.
Chelsea is looking for alternate options
The transfer of Victor Osimhen to Chelsea looks very possible currently. However to make this a permanent move Chelsea will still have to pay a very big fee. Moreover with Chelsea’s manager Enzo Maresca’s doubts over signing the Nigerian striker, this move can very well collapse. The pre season tour is also nearly over for all the Premier League clubs. It is still a big question on how Osimhen will perform in the Premier League. After looking Chelsea’s history with big strikers this can be a very risky move for the Blues.
Chelsea are looking to sign Samu Omorodion from Atletico Madrid. After the Spanish club show interest in Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez, Chelsea can seize the opportunity to sign the player. Moreover even if Victor Osimhen’s deal is not completed this transfer window, Chelsea will still try to sell Romelu Lukaku. Getting another striker is top priority for the London club. Unlike last season, the club does not want to put too much pressure on youngster Cole Palmer to score goals. The Premier League season is about to begin very soon and Chelsea do not have much time to complete their signing business.
