New Manchester United signing ready to fight for trophies

According to the Guardian, new Manchester United signing, Manuel Ugarte, is confident after joining the Red Devils. The Uruguayan midfielder has promised to bring the club back to its former glory and fight for trophies. Manuel Ugarte was Manchester United’s top transfer target this summer.

The midfielder could not become a regular at Paris Saint-Germain under Luis Enrique. Ugarte will be the replacement for Casemiro. Ugarte has a great campaign with Uruguay during the 2024 Copa America. The midfielder was also named in the team of the tournament. Manuel Ugarte will be the fifth signing for the Red Devils this summer.

The midfielder will join Matthijs De Ligt, Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee, and Noussair Mazraoui. Moreover, Ugarte will be the final signing for the Red Devils in this transfer window. Erik Ten Hag has made some big signings to improve the squad for the season. The Dutch manager won the FA Cup against Manchester City last season which silenced all the haters. Manuel Ugarte is very confident after joining the Red Devils. The midfielder has a strong admiration for the club. Since the 2022-23 season, Manuel Ugarte has averaged the second-highest number of tackles per 90 minutes of Europe’s five major leagues.

Manchester United have a great squad for the season

Manchester United has now adopted the transfer policy of signing young players in the squad. Ugarte will be expected to be first choice this season over Casemiro. The former Paris Saint Germain midfielder has a similar playstyle to Casemiro. The midfielder is good at winning possession for the team and making interceptions to stop counterattacks. The 23-year-old signed a five-year contract with the option of a further one-year extension. The Manchester United squad saw many departures this summer. Scott McTominay left for Napoli on the deadline day for a transfer fee of €30 million. McTominay was a key player for Manchester United in recent years making 253 appearances and scoring 29 goals.

Moreover, the Red Devils saw the French defender Rafa Varane left on a free transfer. However, the most controversial transfer was Jadon Sancho’s transfer to Chelsea on the deadline day of the transfer window. The English winger could not improve relations with Manchester United’s boss Erik Ten Hag. Last season, Manchester United sent Jadon Sancho on a loan move to the German club, Borussia Dortmund. Sancho managed to reach the Champions League final with Dortmund last year. However, there was no buy-out clause in the English winger’s loan deal which brought Sancho back to Manchester United this season.

Things are not looking good for the Red Devils despite having a great squad

Manchester United have one of the best squad in the Premier League this season. The squad is full of quality and players are hungry to win trophies this season. However, there is still no sign of improvement from the Red Devils on the football field. This was evident during the two opening games of the Premier League. Manchester United barely managed to beat newly relegated side Fulham in the first match of the Premier League. However, the Red Devils lost the second match of the Premier League against Brighton after conceding a last-minute goal.

New signing Matthijs De Ligt dropped a disaster class on Manchester United’s debut after not covering Brighton’s goalscorer for the winner. Moreover, Erik Ten Hag is still not able to provide an identity to Manchester United’s playstyle and dressing room. There is criticism over making Bruno Fernandes the captain on big occasions. Manchester United fans are also not happy with the treatment of Harry Maguire by Erik Ten Hag.
