Newcastle United are interested in signing Phillipe Coutinho

Newcastle United are targeting to sign Barcelona’s 140 million flop star, Phillipe Coutinho as the Magpies look to enter a new era. Newcastle had a recent ownership change as Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salmanm took over the club making it the richest club in the world. And now the Magpies want to create another statement by setting up a world-class team in coming years.

For the starters, Newcastle United are currently focusing on signing former Premier League star Philippe Coutinho. And as per reports, the black & whites are quite serious about bringing on the Brazilian back to England if not in January, the in summer.

Coutinho has not been the same as he was at Liverpool since joining Spanish giants Barcelona in 2018. The Catalans paid almost 140 million for then Brazilian midfield maestro, as they hope to lead European football. But to date, Coutinho has only managed to appear 96 times for Barcelona, scoring only 23 goals. While his career with the Spanish giants has mainly revolved around injuries.

Barcelona tried hard to get rid of the flop star this summer by lowing the selling price to 20 million. But it seemed no club was ready to invest on the downward graph of Phillipe Coutinho. However, the Catalans might have a chance to sell Coutinho as Newcastle United looks interested in signing the flop star.

Newcastle United is yet to approach Coutinho’s camp

It is for sure that the new richest club is planning some big for an incredible future for the club. The Magpies are currently analyzing the upcoming transfer market as they look forward to signing players who could lead them in this journey. While Newcastle have already identified one target as they look to get hold of Phillipe Coutinho in January.

But the club is yet to make contact with the Brazilian’s camp for the transfer, as per Fabrizio Romano. The journalist said, a lot of rumors emerging regarding Coutinho, but his camp has not received any proposal from Newcastle yet. Let’s see what is going to happen in December, when the transfer market will be in the key period.  

Following Fabrizio’s statement, we can say that the key link for the transfer of Coutinho to Newcastle United can only be established in December. So we have to wait for another two months to have a solid report on Coutinho returning to Premier League.
