According to the latest reports from Le10sport, Newcastle United registered their interest in Paris Saint Germain midfielder Julian Draxler. Draxler is currently way below the pecking order in the plethora of PSG forwards. So, he is looking for a way out now from the French capital. The Ligue 1 champs also drew a list of 11 players whom now they deem as surplus and wants to offload.

However, Newcastle United first contacted the French club regarding the availability of the German international. The Premier League club also contacted the player’s agent and enquired of the price tag Draxler carries. According to the reports, PSG will look to generate around €20 million to €30 million from the sale of their player. The former FC Schalke 04 man’s current contract at the Parisian club is up to 2024. So, now is the best time to part ways.

PSG are looking to abide by the Financial Fair Play regulations and hence made a list of players to offload. They seriously need to reduce the wage bill to avoid any punishments or ban from FFP and to facilitate further signings. They also excluded Draxler from the club’s pre-season trip to Japan.

Will Draxler be a good fit at Newcastle?

The 28-year old made his move from Wolfsburg in 2017 and since made 198 apps for them till date. In the last few season, he failed to establish his spot in the starting 11 which led to appear him only 18 times in the league. However, he scored 2 last season bringing his club tally to 26 goals and 41 assists.

Draxler can be a perfect fit into the system of Eddie Howe at Newcastle. He can play with both his feet. He is versatile as well as he can play on either wings and as an attacking midfielder too. But for his move to happen he needs to cut his weekly wages. Also, if he wants to make to the German NT teamin Qatar, he needs more game time, something which is assured at Newcastle.
