Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Brendan Wiredu

tennis player

Brendan Wiredu of Colchester United is being monitored by Nottingham Forest as they ponder a deal for the midfielder.

The U’s have had a terrible season thus far. With the team fighting to escape relegation from the Football League this season.

The form of Wiredu, who has shone with his energy, commitment, and quality in the middle of the park. Has been one of the few positives in the current campaign.

According to the Telegraph, such performances have drawn the attention of clubs higher up the EFL. While Forest is reportedly among several Championship clubs scouting the 22-year-old.

It does not specify that an offer for Wiredu is forthcoming. Only that he is a player of interest to the Reds. Who have revised their recruitment approach since Dane Murphy’s arrival as CEO. Focusing on younger players to assist Steve Cooper’s squad.

What does this mean Nottingham Forest?

While Colchester United was defeated 2-0 by Forest Green Rovers Wednesday night. Making it three league defeats in a row for Wiredu. This is an intriguing one because there is a significant step up from League Two to the Championship. But Wiredu has certain qualities that suggest he could manage it.

If they don’t win promotion. It’ll be one to keep an eye on in the summer, as Cooper may try to renew the squad. With young, eager players like Wiredu being a focus.

In 21 games this season, the London-born ace has one goal and four assists. As Colchester flirts with relegation, Wiredu has developed a partnership with former Ipswich and Bristol City striker Cole Skuse.

While Nottingham Forest is looking to strengthen their midfield options as they look to secure promotion in the second half of the season under Steve Cooper.
