The reigning champions Brazil will take on Spain for the gold medal at Tokyo 2020. Brazil are set to defend their crown against a very mature Spanish side.
Brazil vs Spain Preview:
Spain played the hosts’ Japan in the semifinal of the Olympics 2020. Marco Asensio’s superb extra-time winner secured a 1-0 victory for the Spanish side sending them to the finals.
Japan had matched Spain throughout the game. In addition, they were playing with a lot of flair, creativity, and tenacity without the ball and they were five minutes away from taking the match to a penalty shootout. The two Real Madrid wingers Marco Asensio and Takefusa Kubo were on top of their game.
Both teams were unable to make the most of half-chances. However, Asensio picked the ball up on the edge of the box , glanced up, and curled the ball into the far corner.
Meanwhile, Brazil played Mexico in the semifinals. Brazil and Mexico threatened to go toe-to-toe in the soccer semifinal. Brazil played without their striker Matheus Cunha and clearly missed his presence. Further Mexico were able to draw Brazil’s sting and, as space opened up towards halftime. A dramatic second-half appeared in prospect, but the match rarely caught fire.
Subsequently, Richarlison came closest to scoring a goal when Dani Alves put in a cross from the right, and Richarlison’s header glanced off the far post.
Meanwhile, the game went right down to the wire and Brazil won the game in the penalty shootout. Reiner held his nerve for Brazil to book their place in a third-straight Olympic final.
Brazil vs Spain Prediction:
Brazil and Spain have been two of the best sides throughout the tournament. The final should be fun to watch as the teams are very well matched.
Given the tight nature of both semifinals and the fact that neither side has been particularly prolific in front of goal. The match is likely to go to penalties and we might see Brazil come out on top as the winners.
