Omar Marmoush: High Wages at Man City for Liverpool ‘Target’

Omar Marmoush is making the headlines as the new Man City signing will be earning ridiculous wages at the Etihad Stadium.

Omar Marmoush’s Move To Man City

Marmoush, who was previously linked with Liverpool, will now be joining Man City. The price is said to be £67.7 million, with the Egyptian striker agreeing on an impressive contract.

Arne Slot’s side had been considering the striker as a potential target since his rise in Germany. He could’ve been an huge addition to the Reds squad. But the sources within the club denied the interest.

Now, the forward is switching sides from Eintracht Frankfurt for Man City for an initial €75 million (£66.7m), rising to €80 million (£67.7m) with add-ons.

After a bad start to the first half of the season, the Premier League champions are desperately looking for reinforcements. They are in the market to add strength to the current group of players. As of now City are sitting at the sixth place after 21 games and 12 points behind Liverpool who are the current leaders.

The Reds supporters may be sad with the side’s transfer window activity, including that around Omar. Although, the big contract offered and accepted by the forward would not be what Liverpool were looking to offer.

After agreeing to a move with the Cityzens, Frankfurt dropped their star forward from their matchday squad for their game against Dortmund. Despite missing him, the German side won the game with a 2-0 scoreline on Friday.

Omar Marmoush Will Earn BIG At Man City

As per Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Marmoush will be earning between £260.000 and £275,000 per week before tax. Usually, footballers salaries are reported excluding the tax.

The 25-year-old will be bringing home around £162,00 a week after tax. This is over five times as much as his pre-tax earnings at Frankfurt. In Germany, he was paid gross £32,000 per week.

Mo Salah, Omar’s international captain, is the current highest earner at Liverpool. His basic wage is £350,000 per week before tax.

There are no claims that suggests that the Reds were making a move for the Egyptian striker. If they were to sign him, there would have been little chance of them matching Man City’s offer.

Following Julian Alvarez’s exit move to Atletico Madrid, Marmoush’s arrival will solve the centre-forward crisis at the Etihad Stadium. Erling Halaand has been carrying the burden of leading the line. He has started all 27 of Manchester City’s games across the Premier League and Champions League this season. They will be next in action against Ipswich on Sunday in an away fixture in the league.

The Frustration Around Anfield

The Liverpool fans may be little sad with the Man Cit’s signing. But they are more frustrated with the situation involving the future of Salah, Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold.

All three players are out of contract at the end of the season. With these players showing how vital they are for the team, they totally deserve new high-wage contracts. As Liverpool are trying to keep all three stars at the same time, it requires a considerable amount of financial resources to keep them at Anfield.

Man City’s new signing, Omar will be earning more than 260,000 per week in his first contract in the Premier League. This could throw a curveball in the Red’s talks with Salah.

There is no doubt that Mo could ask for a better contract as he’s been performing at his best. Comparing him to Omar’s form, he surely is at a different level above his international teammate.

Author’s Opinion

Let’s hope the arrival of Marmoush will help in solving the centre-forward issue at City. With that huge contract, the expectations from the Cityzens will likely be high from the striker.

Also it’ll be interesting to see how Liverpool will handle the situations of their star trio. Will any one of Salah, Van Dijk or Alexander-Arnold leave this summer? time will tell.
