On the Offensive: Guardiola Seeks Heightened Goal Production from Man City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has urged his players to nurture their goal producing ability. Despite currently being in the race to win the league again alongside Liverpool and Arsenal, the City boss highlights one thing he wants to see from his side moving forward. The Cityzens are in a hunt for a record fourth consecutive Premier League title. Besides this, the Sky Blues are also in the mix for another treble as well.

Pep Guardiola has a hunger of more goal scoring opportunities

The Spanish manager boasts 59 goals so far in this campaign and is only behind Liverpool. However, they had 60+ goals at the same time last season. Although the drop is not very significant, one can see why Guardiola wants his side to create and finish more opportunities.

Speaking ahead of the clash with Bournemouth, he had this to say on the matter,

I would like to score more. We have the creativity to shoot. We should score more. [It is also] important to say how many chances we concede. We create more and concede less than the opponent, this is good analysis. Afterwards, you can still lose but you are closer to winning games.

People say you have a lot of chances, that’s good but you have to score. It gives you an idea of how you are moving but I always say teams are human beings and they have feelings. The feelings are there.”

The treble-winners emerged 1-0 victorious at the Vitality Stadium last night with Foden hitting the only nail in the coffin. Though, it seemed to be a tough fought victory as Ireola’s men showed real determination after the half-time.

However, with City having the highest total of goal-creating actions (101) in the league this season, this shows that they have the ability to score goals on a regular basis but may need to be a bit more clinical.
