Pablo Mari is set to return to the Serie A this summer on a loan to AS Monaco. The Spanish defender has had an underwhelming career in the Premier League with Arsenal. Now, Arsenal are looking to cash in on the player by sending him on a loan to Serie A side Monaco. Pablo Mari already has had a stint in the Serie A with Udinese on a loan in the later part of the 2021/22 season.
Pablo Mari joined Arsenal from Flamengo in 2020 on loan. But, Arsenal decided to make his transfer permanent in 2020 despite him getting an ankle injury in the season. He signed a five-year loan with Arsenal. Moreover, Mari was the first signing of the club under Mikel Arteta. However, the drop in performance saw him getting sidelined over other defenders. In the 2021/22 campaign, Mari was sent on a loan to Udinese where he discovered his form. He played 15 games for the Italian outfit and even scored two goals for them. He wanted to make his stay at Udinese permanent. Udinese were also pushing for Mari to join them. However, the deal was forfeited due to Udinese being unhappy about Arsenal’s asking price for Mari. Now, the player is set to return to Serie A with AS Monaco
Pablo Mari AS Monaco deal details
William Saliba has arrived from his loan spell to claim his position in the Arsenal defense. Moreover, Mikel Arteta is trimming out his squad and pushing Arsenal on the path to becoming a contender for the top four this season. This means Arsenal have to get rid of the dead weight in the squad and declutter their wage bill. The departure of Pablo Mari is a push in the right direction for the Gunners.
Pablo Mari leaves the Emirates on a loan deal. However, there is a permanent buy clause in the contract as well. The permanent buy clause states that AS Monaco are obligated to buy Pablo if they manage to avoid relegation this season. The transfer fee that Monaco have to pay is set at €7 million.
