AC Monza and Arsenal have completed a loan deal for defender Pablo Mari. The deal contains a €7m permanent buy clause if Monaco avoids relegation this season. The two clubs were holding talks for some time now regarding the player. The hold-up in the deal was the addition of a permanent buy clause. But now, the deal is complete and Mari will play for Monaco this season on a loan.
Pablo Mari was Mikel Arteta’s first signing back in 2020. The Spaniard arrived from Flamengo on loan to Arsenal in 2020. Arsenal made the deal permanent in 2020 despite a significant ankle injury. Pablo Mari played 22 matches for Arsenal during his time at the Emirates. Moreover, he was successful in scoring a goal in his time at Arsenal as well. Pablo Mari spent the last half of the year on loan to Udinese. He scored twice in 15 appearances for the Italian side. However, with the return of William Saliba, Mari has fallen down the pecking order of defense. Now, Arsenal are looking to offload the player to raise money for new signings.
Arsenal have signed six players this season. Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Viera Matt Turner, Marquinhos, and Zinchenko have arrived at the Emirates to bolster the squad this season. According to Gianluca Dimarzio, Pablo Mari has completed his medical for Monaco. He arrived at Italy in the 7th of August to undergo his medical. All that remains is the announcement of Pablo Mari joining Monaco.
