Chelsea have already got a sensational footballer in their ranks, Cole Palmer, who has been shining in fans’ eyes with his creativity and clutch plays. What if the Blues did add not one, but two more Palmers? Stamford Bridge watches highly rated teenage twins Bailey and Anton Palmer of Middlesbrough’s youth setup.
Chelsea are among the leading clubs on the hunt for the signatures of both 16-year-olds who are already making waves at English football. Although all of these teams want to bring in a young talent, there is only one club that has publicly stated they love a good young talent acquisition and that is Chelsea. If this two follow their namesake to greatness, the club might become The House of Palmers—pure greatness as it is in football language.
Palmer & Palmer: A Chelsea Midfield Law Firm?
It will be messy if all three Palmers are in the squad. Palmer passes to Palmer, flicks it on to Palmer… what a goal from Palmer! Referees would struggle to know who to book, opponents would not know who to mark and fans would just chant ‘Lets go, Palmer’ in eternal confusion.
If Chelsea secures two future stars, they won’t be in a position enhanced by two talented youngsters who should be in their midfield for longer. The twins could be the cogs to the plan if they possess footballing intelligence, technical ability, and versatility for the long-term strategy.
Is Chelsea the Right Move for the Palmers?
Chelsea have an unfortunate black mark for hoarding young talent, but it’s not quite a track record of actually putting those players into the first team. In every Mason Mount or Reece James, there is a Lewis Baker or a Josh McEachran who never quite did.
Chelsea’s approach however has changed in recent years. Mauricio Pochettino also brings youth, so the Palmers could actually force their way through. They have to show patience and hard work. They should pray that Chelsea’s notorious cycle of loans won’t swallow them.
