Paul Merson has pleaded Mikel Arteta to sign a player who left Chelsea back in 2017

There have been a much need for strikers in some top clubs in Premier League. Chelsea and Arsenal are also no different to the curse that has plagued the clubs this season so far. However, Paul Merson has urged Mikel Arteta to go and sign one English star.

Mikel Arteta’s men have picked up their form of late, most recently beating Nottingham Forest lifting their mood. However, Merson wants Arsenal to sign former Chelsea academy star Dominic Solanke. The 26-year old is tearing apart the defences currently with Bournemouth.

He has scored 12 goals in 20 appearances so far and is in the race for golden boot. If he can match the stats of his first-half of the season, he will easily cross 20+ goals mark. With all these attributes, he can be a solution for the Gunners in the summer transfer. Merson has suggested Arteta to go for him saying,

“If Solanke keeps on doing what he is doing, if he finishes the back end like he started recently. He has that phase and he is right up there with the goalscorers, if he has that towards the back end of the season, then I would like someone like him. You have to bring in somebody who has played in this league.”

There were a lot of expectations from his while coming from Cobham but he never shined. He then went to Liverpool but was deported to Bournemouth eventually. After thriving in Championship and last season in Premier League, he is now looking lethal. He is hitting the ground with his performances and can be on the radar of some big boys in the summer transfer market next season. The Gunners will be hosting Liverpool in their next league game on Sunday.
