Paul Merson has given a worrying update for Liverpool fans in the Premier League title tale. Paul believes that Liverpool may have dropped the chance of clear winners and the title race is going on one way.
The Reds are still top of the table, although Manchester City and Arsenal both cut the gap to two points following the most recent gameweek. Owing to this, the champions have a game in hand on Jurgen Klopp’s side. In the latest column for Sky Sports, the journalist writes that City are boosted by the return of their two key players. Noticably, the Sky Blues have got the fresh legs of Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne after injury.
“I don’t see who beats Man City to the title. They have missed probably the best player in the league [in] Kevin De Bruyne, and Erling Haaland has also been out. That’s a worry at best for the others. City are on for the treble again.”
The Reds’ defeat at the Emirates Stadium is a major jolt for the Merseyside fans in the race. Moreover, Manchester City’s win over Brentford has also raised their problems to some extent. They are also delighted by the return of their talisman Kevin De Bruyne and marksman Haaland. Although the fortune is favouring Pep Guardiola, Liverpool can still surprise the supporters at Manchester. They have a chance to regain their grasp on the trophy when they face their arch-rivals at Anfield in March.
Their two key men Mo Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai will also be returning soon in the squad strengthening their title charge lately. Liverpool have proven more capable than anyone of taking Guardiola’s team to the wire. Now, they can do so again in Klopp’s final campaign in charge.
