Paul Merson was surprised by something Chelsea did against RB Salzburg

Paul Merson said he was blown by one spell of play Chelsea played against RB Salzburg in the Champions League. Chelsea won 2-1 against RB Salzburg on Tuesday night in a Champions League fixture. With that win, Chelsea are now on the top spot of Group E of the Champions league.

The Blues played some beautiful football on some occasions in the first half. Things have definitely changed in Graham Potter’s era, Chelsea started their champions league journey with a 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb. After which Thomas Tuchel was fired and Graham Potter was appointed as a new head coach. Chelsea now sits on top under Graham playing beautiful football.

Merson blown away by Chelsea’s play

Merson was impressed by the first-half play by Chelsea which ended up with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang hitting the ball at Salzburg’s goalkeeper. The whole move started from Chelsea’s goalkeeper with a series of passes to the striker, the through ball from Jorginho opened up the Salzburg defence. Aubameyang managed to take a shot which was eventually saved by Salzburg’s goalkeeper.

Merson admire the play after which he wrote:

“Chelsea got a good result in the Champions League, and they played some good football as well. There was one move in that match where they moved from one end of the pitch to the other – wow! Had they scored, it would’ve been their best goal in a long time,”
