Pep Guardiola claims that John Stones is to blame for an injury he picked up during FA Cup fourth-round tie against Arsenal.
Manchester City beat Arsenal 1-0 at the Etihad on Friday thanks to Nathan Ake’s goal in the second half. It was a big win for Cityzens considering Arsenal sits at the top of the Premier League table. City were able to get a win against Gunners in the first of the three meetings between them this season.
However, this win came at a cost of John Stones who picked up a hamstring injury and was replaced by Aymeric Laporte. The seriousness of the injury hasn’t been determined yet but the 28-years old will be out for the next few games at least.
Guardiola blames Stones
England International is expected to miss some upcoming important games. This includes visits to Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal. City will be looking to close the five points gap with league leaders Arsenal.
Meanwhile, Guardiola claims that the player wasn’t fit enough to start the game. He said:
“Today he was not ready, I saw it in the first minutes,“
“Maybe he was tired, I don’t know, but he was not ready and that’s why when this happens you get injured.“
Most of the Man City squad remains injury free with only Stones and Phil Foden sidelined. Now, Manchester City has advanced to the Fifth round of the FA Cup.
