Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola hit back at the critics for turning a blind eye to other clubs spending money this summer in a press conference. Football pundits criticize the club for over spending every year to win titles. The Spaniard said that whenever City spend, its over spending. He slammed the journalists for not commenting when Arsenal, Chelsea and Man United spend loads of money every season.
The Cityzens had a quiet transfer window comparatively, their only signing is Savinho worth £35m. The club also sold Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid for a whopping £81m. Rivals Man United on the other hand have spent £145m on new signings. Chelsea and Arsenal have spent £185m and £69m respectively this window.
Manchester City’s net spend is way less than that of their rival clubs in last 5 years. Pep took the aim at the critics to show that every club is spending more money each year to compete. However, if the club is not well run it is impossible to win titles. Chelsea are the best example of a club which has flopped even after spending billions of British pounds.
Pep Guardiola says;
“Yes, many years they have done it, many years but it’s not news. It’s just when City spend money. Every year they are better and getting better. You see Arsenal playing at the same level as last season. Every year looks more difficult; United will be back, you know? They bought players and everyone wants the crown that we have for four years.”
Manchester City lure teenage sensation from West Ham!
Manchester City have hijacked Lyon’s target Divin Mubama. The Cityzens are keen to replace Julian Alvarez who left Etihad for Wanda Metropolitano. According to BBC, the young lad was on the verge of signing for the French club before the Sky blues swooped in for him.
Mubama is just 19 years old and is a graduate of the Hammers’ academy. He made his debut for the West Ham senior team in 2022. He made 18 appearances across all competitions scoring one goal and providing one assist. The young lad is now a free agent and will decide on his future soon. He had scored 18 goals in just 34 games for the Hammers’ U-21 side. Many clubs across Europe are interested in the youngster.
Man City are favourites to sign the youngster. Pep Guardiola likes his profile and feels he can become a good replacement for the Argentine. After the completion of the deal, the club will decide whether to register him in the senior squad or loan him out to improve his game further.
Mubana has always been a prolific goalscorer at youth levels, but now he must show what he is made of. He has to take his game to the next level to succeed at a club like Manchester City. He has the potential to become one of the future greats.
Ipswich Town sign midfielder on loan from City
Manchester City have agreed on a loan deal for Kalvin Philips to Ipswich Town. The midfielder has not found any sort of rhythm ever since he joined the club from Leeds United. He has not impressed Pep Guardiola who labelled him being over weight once. The midfielder was on loan at West Ham but he failed to make a mark.
The newly promoted side are doing everything they can to stay up this season. They have also signed striker Liam Delap from the Cityzens. The club are in a need of a solid defensive anchorman prompting them to go for Kalvin Philips. The England international is very experienced in the English soil and is a very efficient anchorman. He has suffered some injuries recently but everyone is aware of the player he was at Leeds.
Phillips is expected in Ipswich for a medical on Thursday and, should the deal be completed in time. He could be making his debut for the club against Liverpool. It will be Ipswich’s first Premier league game after more than two decades. Manchester City face Chelsea in a Super Sunday clash. Premier league finally returns this week, for what every fan has been eagerly waiting for!
