PM Modi congratulates Mithali Raj on a successful cricket career

Former India women’s cricketer, Mithali Raj received a congratulatory letter from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Mithali took to Twitter where she posted the letter today and thanked PM Modi for honouring her in such a special way.

Moreover, she added that she will treasure this letter all her life.

Mithali announced her retirement last month after which Harmanpreet Kaur was handed the ODI captaincy of India.

Mithali finished as the leading run-getter in women’s cricket.

She amassed a total of 7805 ODI runs from her 232 matches with an average of 50.68.

Additionally, she also played 89 T20Is where she scored 2364 runs while amassing 699 runs in 12 Tests.

Mithali is also the only female batter to score more than 7000 runs in the ODI format.

When it comes to women’s cricket, Mithali Raj is an icon.

The former cricketer also added that she will try to meet everyone’s expectations to the best of her ability when she starts her second innings.

PM Modi termed Mithali Raj as being an inspiration to millions of budding sportspersons in the country.
