Potential Chelsea line-up post takeover as Tuchel could be handed with several new signings

Chelsea are on for a major summer haul as a number of outgoings, as well as incomings, are expected. Moreover, with new owners potentially taking over the club before summer, a lot of activity could take place. Furthermore, Chelsea are sanctioned and barred from doing any business as of now. As a result, three players whose contracts are up in the summer could leave. We take a look at how Chelsea could line up post their chaotic summer window.

Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, and Cesar Azpilicueta are the ones whose contracts expire by the summer. None of them have extended yet and it is highly unlikely that it happens. Christensen has reportedly agreed to join FC Barcelona, Rudiger Real Madrid, and Azpilicueta in talks with several clubs. Chelsea needs their replacements and above all, they need young players to rejuvenate their aging squad. The Blues are already linked with many names as we analyze how every department could look if they sign their targets.

Possible Chelsea line-up: A refreshed backline

Chelsea are strongly linked with Sevilla youngster Jules Kounde. They even tried to sign the French center-back last summer with the Spanish club rejecting their bid. Nonetheless, Chelsea are ready to reapproach Sevilla for Kounde this summer, with a move almost likely. However, a massive fee would be required to acquire Kounde from Sevilla. Kounde’s market value stands at £54 million, but Sevilla reportedly wants a fee of around £60 million.

Another Blues target is Leicester’s Wesley Fofana. The center-back has attracted attention from many of the top clubs after impressive displays with the Foxes. Fofana has already racked up 44 appearances for Leicester, achieving 16 clean sheets. The young talent is well-versed with the Premier League as well, featuring in 31 outings since joining Leicester in 2020. However, the same situation here as Leicester will demand a higher fee.

New additions in the middle of the park

One of the reasons Chelsea’s season has massively taken a hit is Kante and Jorginho’s decline. The midfield duo have disappointingly underperformed for the Blues, with many conceding that their time’s up at Stamford Bridge. Moreover, rumors tell that Chelsea could consider offloading both if decent fees are paid. Amidst the situation, Chelsea have Declan Rice on top of their wish-list to add to their line-up. But West Ham have time and time again reiterated that it would take triple figures to sign Rice.

As a result, Chelsea could look to Aurelien Tchouameni as Plan B. The Monaco midfielder has burst onto the scene since making his debut for the French club. Though he will be considered a gamble, Tchouameni seems a suit to the Tuchel system. Furthermore, on-loan midfielder Conor Gallagher has immensely impressed with Crystal Palace and would demand a place in the Chelsea line-up next season.

An abundance of options already available in attack

The forward line could see no new faces since there’s enough firepower present already. However, departures may occur, with Romelu Lukaku most likely to leave. The striker has disastrously failed to live up to his price tag of £97 million. Moreover, he openly expressed his wish to rejoin Inter in a controversial interview with Sky Italia. This summer, he might just get his wish. Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech have slight possibilities of leaving as well.

Kai Havertz has found his feet playing as the number-9 and could be deployed in that role permanently from next season onwards. Mason Mount‘s untouchable in that Chelsea line-up, and Christian Pulisic could complete the front three. Callum Hudson-Odoi and on-loan striker Armando Broja could add to the depth.

Therefore, Chelsea could line up as following if their summer plan goes according to the plan.

Edouard Mendy; Jules Kounde, Thiago Silva, Wesley Fofana; Reece James, Mateo Kovacic, Aurelien Tchouameni, Ben Chilwell; Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic
