Premier League Game Week 5: Team of the Week

The Premier League Game Week 5 has come to an end. It’s time for us to rate our Premier League team of the week. We have seen some very dramatic results over the weekend. At the end of Game Week 5 ChelseaLiverpool, and Manchester United drew level on 13 points. Meanwhile, Manchester City slipped in the race against Southampton.

Tottenham Hotspur also fell behind in the race after winning each of their first 3 games. Leeds and Newcastle kicked off the Game week on Friday night. Both teams went head to head but had to settle for a point. Arsenal seems to be back on track with consecutive wins. The Gunners won the game against Burnley by a fine margin. Summer signing Martin Ødegaard produced a bit of magic and scored a wonderful free-kick to win all three points for them.

Brighton played against Leicester City over the weekend and emerged victoriously. The Seagulls are now competing with the big boys in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Norwich are yet to win a game in the Premier League. They have lost five consecutive games now the recent defeat being against Watford. Moreover, we saw Aston Villa beat Everton. The game seemed to be very dry until the first goal from Cash. Matty Cash produced a bit of magic to break the deadlock. Moreover, the introduction of Leon Bailey sealed the game for Villa. Bailey scored a goal and also whipped a beautiful corner that led to an own goal.

Premier League Team of the Week: Game Week 5

GK: David De Gea

It doesn’t get any better than saving a last-minute for a goalkeeper. West Ham captain Mark Noble was fresh of the bench when West Ham were awarded the penalty. Noble has a perfect penalty record and De Gea didn’t manage to save any of his last 40 penalties. But this time De Gea rose to the occasion to ensure that all three points went to Old Trafford.

LWB: Marcos Alonso

Marcos Alonso was just too good for Chelsea on the left. Tottenham’s latest signing Emerson had a very difficult time marking him. Moreover, he had several shots on target but unfortunately couldn’t score. But he assisted his teammate Thiago Silva.

RWB: Matty Cash

Matty Cash was player of the week. He was immense for Aston Villa, creating chances chasing back Cash was all over the place. Moreover, Matty Cash had more shots on target than any other player in the game. His forward ventures allowed him to bag a goal for himself.

CB: Thiago Silva

Thiago Silva is 37 and still a beast. We have heard people speak of Cristiano Ronaldo, Silva does lie in the same conversation. Thiago Silva broke the deadlock for Chelsea with a powerful header. Silva truly is one of the best and most reliable defenders in the modern game.

CB: Antonio Rudiger

Chelsea are blessed to have a midfielder like Rudiger. Rudiger is fast and solid at the back. Rudiger wrapped up the game for Blues with a lovely bottom corner finish. Chelsea fans are hoping that the board finds a way to keep Rudiger at Stamford Bridge as his contract expires next summer.

CB: Virgil van Dijk

Virgil Van Dijk is back in the Liverpool squad and is set to take the league by storm. Since his return, Liverpool have been rock solid at the back. Van Dijk makes his way to the Premier League Team of the Week as he kept a clean sheet against Crystal Palace. Moreover, he also got himself any assist.

CM: Oriol Romeu

Romeu was very composed on the ball. After the game, Pep Guardiola said that he is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.

CM: Martin Odegaard

It seems like Arsenal are getting their act together now. Meanwhile, Martin Odegaard scored a beautiful freekick to win the game for The Gunners. Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard both played a deeper role in the midfield.

RW: Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah is truly a Premier League icon. He has been putting in phenomenal performances week in week out. Moreover, Salah was on the scoresheet again for The Reds against Crystal Palace.

ST: Ivan Toney

Ivan Toney seems to be adjusting to the Premier League lifestyle. He scored a penalty and assisted Bryan Mbuemo for Brentford’s second goal. Overall Toney’s display against Wolves was amazing.

LW: Ismaila Sarr

Watford has a gem of a player in their hands. Ismaila Sarr is truly special and he scored twice for Watford. Moreover, two goals, five dribbles, and nearly one sensational assist summed up Sarr’s performance.
