As per reports, Premier League teams – Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool, made bids for FC Barcelona star, Ansu Fati.

With his contract expiring, the 18-years-old Spain international was presumed to be looking for a move outside Catalonia. Teams across Europe made bids for Fati including some of the Premier League giants and Paris Saint-Germain.

Under the pressure, Barcelona hurriedly made a new deal with the young forward which has extended his stay at Nou Camp till 2027 with Barca inserting a €1bn (£846m) release clause.

With 16 goals and 3 assists in 48 appearances, the young prodigy will now be in full swing to justify his value and prove his mettle.

Possible reason behind interest of Manchester United in Ansu Fati

Man Utd are in a transitional phase with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer signing big stars. However, the Red Devils have stumbled upon hurdles due to poor run of form. The Gaffer has simply hit a wall with his inability to make proper tactical decisions.

The introduction of forwards, Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani, seem great at present, but in the long run this idea will fade. Ronaldo is approaching the age of 37 with Cavani turning 35. While CR7 is the best poacher, he simply lacks the intensity with Cavani being injury prone. The colossal dip of Anthony Martial’s form has led to a lot of dependency on his senior competitions.

Ansu, being 18, still has a long way to go in his career. He seems to be one of the best long term forward options, provided he maintains his current form. Fati’s high intensity and determination could have been pivotal in Manchester United’s counter attacking style of play.

At present, struggling Barca are sitting 7th in the La Liga table with a game in hand. The 3-1 win over Valencia on Sunday, marked a clinical return of Barca’s young star. A little lay-off by Memphis Depay was enough for a confident Fati to bury the ball in the bottom corner. His strong comeback from a long term injury may as well have given new hopes to the team to become title contenders once again.
