Premier League Manager’s Secret Summer Chase Revealed: Why Fulham Wanted £50m Chelsea Star!

Fulham manager Marco Silva shared the real reason why he wanted to sign Armando Broja from Chelsea. The Albanian international recently went to Fulham from Chelsea for a loan deal in January market. Though, it now seems that he was on their radar for a considerable time.

Broja is yet to start a game for the Cottagers, coming off the bench in their 3-1 victory against Bournemouth and 2-2 draw with Burnley. The Telegraph reported that the Blues have set a huge price of £50m for the striker. Eventually, the loan deal was agreed because no one was ready to match such a huge price for him at the moment.

Fulham looked to sign Broja from Chelsea last summer as well

The Craven Cottage boss has said that they wanted the Albanian even in the last summer. He spoke on the 22-year old that,

He has a lot of potential. We really believe in him. He was a player we looked at last summer as well and he knows that there will be competition for places. He only arrived last week before the Burnley game.”

It will be a huge question whether Fulham will want Broja on a permanent deal in summer or not. It will be depending on a couple of reasons though. Firstly whether the Blues will drop their asking price of £50m or not. Second, Fulham and Silva would possibly need the Blues to sign a new centre-forward themselves. While Mauricio Pochettino is coping now, he may not want to go into the 2024/25 season with just one recognised No.9 in his squad.

Therefore, if Chelsea are unable to secure another striker for them, they will love to retain Broja for the upcoming season. However, there are reports that Napoli’s Victor Osimhen has already decided to join Chelsea. The Nigerian did not have a memorable AFCON tournament, scoring just one goal throughout the competition.
