BeIN Sports pundit, Richard Keys, says that Jose Mourinho told him Manchester United will sack him on one condition. Jose Mourinho was the manager of Manchester during the mid of last decade. He even won the club their only European trophy after Sir Alex.
Richard was writing in his blog and admits what the Portuguese tactician told him. The BeIN Sports pundit claimed that the 61-year-old once told him that he knew Manchester United would sack him after Paul Pogba was overlooked for three consecutive matches. He wrote,
“His latest sacking in Rome followed the usual pattern – row, rant, then retreat with the money. He once told me he knew he’d be sacked at United for leaving Pogba out of three consecutive games – at a time when the Frenchman’s stock was at its highest. All planned, and it worked perfectly. He wanted the sack. He got it.”
Keys was discussing about Jose amidst some reports suggesting that the manager is thinking of replacing Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea. Ofcourse, there was a lot of pressure on the 61-year old manager to play Pogba as he was a signing of a staggering £89m. However, there were also other factors causing his sack at Old Trafford.
Manchester United were sixth in the Premier League when Mourinho was sacked. The BBC claimed that players and staff were left upset by a “disappointing and unsettling period” under the 61-year-old.
Although Chelsea are not the only club looking to rehire Jose. Reports from England claim that Manchester United are also looking for his services in case Erik Ten Hag is fired. A separate story from the Daily Mail claimed that the man feels he has unfinished business at Old Trafford, and would be open to making a return.
