New Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has already set his plans in motion at the club, with big changes. The German has made multiples moves in each department including the management and the team.

Ralf Rangnick took over the managerial role from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on 29th November 2021. Following this period he will continue in a consultancy role for a further two years. His first game in charge came with a 1-0 Premier League victory over Crystal Palace. Till now the German has won two and drawn one in three games as in charge.

Known for his ability to change teams from their grassroots, Rangnick is one of the best German coaches in the world. In just a short while, the manager has identified problems in various departments and has started his implementations.

Various changes being incorporated by Ralf at Man United

During his reshaping of Manchester United, Ralf Rangnick has made several changes in the backroom staff. Following the appointment of sports psychologist Sascha Lense and former New York Red Bull coach Chris Armas, the newest recruit is Ewan Sharp.

Sharp has almost a decade of experience backing his work in the Red Bull system, who has also spent a number of years as an analyst in New York. The assistant coach will be responsible for incorporating a specific playing style and an identity in the team, which they lacked under Ole Gunnar.

Rangnick has also taken into consideration the managerial change after he switches to his consultancy role. The German will be looking for well-established managers to work under the system. As a result, Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone is an emerging candidate. The Argentine manager’s experience is also on par with his success at the Spanish club. Even Cristiano Ronaldo has praised the manager in a documentary, stating:

“He has a lot of courage, I like people like that.”

Rangnick’s player priorities

The 63-years-old coach has started entrusting players from United’s unconventional lineup, mainly Diogo Dalot. The Portuguese full-back has been playing over RB Aaron Wan-Bissaka after Rangnick’s takeover and has been doing a decent job since.

The player was also removed from the January transfer market, with the manager wanting to give the player a chance to continue to prove himself. Even Alex Telles has been given a number of opportunities over Luke Shaw, while some may argue that the latter is unavailable due to a prolonged injury.

No matter the case, Rangnick seems adamant and eager to implement changes as quickly as possible. His positive approach could aid in regaining the Red Devils’ status and make them title contenders once again.
