Manchester United are in pole position to land Lyon’s rising star Rayan Cherki this summer.

Manchester United have had a tough season with poor form across all competitions. The Red Devils are desperate for fresh energy and creativity. That is something Lyon star Rayan Cherki is known for.
The 21-year-old playmaker has been in red-hot form. He has 28 goal involvements in just 37 games this season. That also includes an impressive 11 goal contributions in 11 UEFA Europa League outings.
United will face Lyon in their Europa League quarter-final second leg this Thursday. But all eyes may be on Cherki rather than the result. The Frenchman already caused trouble in the first leg, scoring a late equaliser following a mistake by Andre Onana.
That goal not only dented United’s hopes of securing a strong lead but also further boosted Cherki’s stock in Europe.
Red Devils Have a Head Start in the Race
Cherki’s contract with Lyon runs out next summer. making him available at a bargain fee of around £20 million.
Clubs like Liverpool are sniffing around. However, Utd are leading the race thanks to long-standing interest. They’ve been watching him closely since he was just 16.
His decision to reject a move to PSG last season shows he’s open to new challenges. And United could be the perfect fit. Reports suggest the head coach Ruben Amorim is also keen on him. Ann that could fast-track any deal once summer arrives.
The Red Devils are also looking at Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap and Wolves’ Matheus Cunha. Although, Cherki is the main target name in this shortlist. He has the ability to unlock defenses and beat players with ease. And he can deliver in big games as well. That makes him a dream addition for a team lacking spark.
He has had a full season of top-level performances under his belt. At just 21, this summer could mark the start of something special at Old Trafford. Also, only if United can get the deal over the line.
