Reactions to India’s loss in the Gold medal match at CWG’22 Cricket Tournament

The Indian team saw a heartbreaking end to the tournament with a loss in the finals against Australia. The Indian girls failed to hold their breath during the 162-run chase at Finals. The girls got defeated by just 9 runs. furthermore, They lost to the mighty Aussies for 2nd time in the tournament. However, the streak of underperforming in the big matches continued for team India.

At the toss, The Australian skipper opt to bat. The opening batter Beth Mooney knocked an amazing 50 runs, Mooney scored 61 runs on 41 deliveries. The batter scored these runs with the help of 8 boundaries and also formed 73 run partnership with the Skipper Meg Lenning. The batters looked in red hot form and this amazing performance took Australia to a good defendable first-inning score.

However, India had also shown some best performance with their apt bowling and fielding during the first innings. India’s top bowlers had showed some good performance. Renuka Singh Thakur bowled a good spell resulting in a figure of 2/25. On the other hand, Sneh Rana also complimented the bowling attack by taking 2 wickets. Rana also played well and gave just 38 runs in the spell of 4 overs.

However, The girls could not give a good start in the second innings. Both openers failed to score big. The powerplay saw wickets of both openers. The next two batters that came to the crease, played a knock of 93 runs. Both the players kept the hope for the gold medal for India. The duo brought the team to the situation where 43 runs were needed of the last 33 balls. With this needed score line, it seemed real as the Indians would take away the gold medal. However, The equations changed in the next eight balls bowled by Aussies. Every other member looked in a hurry to reach back home. However, Deepti Sharma tried to bring India a medal but couldn’t do much and this resulted in 9 run defeat against Australia. India won a Silver medal in the tournament but looked annoyed with the performance.
