Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling has taken a huge interest in one young prospect. Chelsea signed Dujuan Richards last month after the forward turned 18 in November. He has now told the Blues’ official website that Raheem Sterling messaged him before he arrived in west London.
Noticeably, both of the men hail from Jamaica. However, Sterling is an England international with 82 caps for the Europeans. On the other hand, Dujuan has represented the Carribbean side seven times scoring one goal in that. The 18-year told about the message that,
“Raheem and I messaged over Instagram before I arrived at Chelsea. I just got a message from him one day and I was really surprised. I woke up for training and I told everyone there that Raheem had messaged!
Things like that don’t normally happen. For someone playing at the highest level to message and tell me that I’m a good guy — it motivates me a lot. He’s a good guy and is looking out for me.”
Chelsea hoping Sterling to step up in the dilapidated season
The Jamaican can be a future solution for the striker dilemma of the Blues. However, he is quite young for now and will need a couple of loan spells to innate the qualities for playing at the highest level. Sterling is obviously someone who can have an influence now, but he has not really been a difference-maker in the Premier League for Chelsea. Infact, the former Manchester City man is goalless in English division since November.
If Mauricio Pochettino wishes to win the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, senior players like Raheem Sterling, Thiago Silva and others need to raise their levels. This can be the only way to salvage a drowning season for the Stamford Bridge fans.
