Red bull F1 signs new driver into their Junior Team

Red bull has signed a new deal with the son of ex-F1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya.

Red bull is known to produce talented young drivers. The Milton Keynes-based squad invests heavily in its junior programs to get the best of the best drivers.

Now, red bull has officially signed a deal with Sebastian Montoya – the son of former F1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya. The 17-year-old will join the red bull program to seek talented young racers and future stars from 2023.

Montoya rather had a busy 2022 with multiple championships. He competed in Formula Regional Asia where he secured two race wins alongside a top-10 finish in the championship. He also took part in Formula Regional European.

Afterward, the Colombian-American driver competed in a round of Formula 3 at Zandvoort. There, he secured the best finish of P8 in both the sprint and feature race.

Declaring the news on social media, Montoya said:

“This past year, I became part of the brand’s athletes and now we will work together for the ultimate goal: F1.”

Coming to the red bull side, Montoya is the third signing. He will join the program after Zane Maloney and Enzo Fittipaldi also took the same route.

Regardless, Montoya is expected to take part in the 2023 Formula 3 championship fully. Helmut Marko supported the same in recent comments made by him. For now, the 17-year-old will be competing in Formula Regional Middle East Championship taking place between January and February.
