Bosnian referee Irfan Peljto will be the match official for UCL tie between Arsenal and Real Madrid on Tuesday.

His career at the top-level of the sport has not been easy. He was at the centre of news after he declined to referee the games of two top clubs of Bosnia. He claimed that he received threats towards him and his family. As a result, he decided to avoid Zeljeznicar and Sarajeva’s games.

As per SportSport (a Bosnian site), the 40-year-old referee complained about the threats to his country’s government as well.

Peljto was named to officiate a derby tie between Velez Mostar and Zeljeznicar. However, he was later removed and Elvedin Topuzovic was called on for the match.

Both UCL clubs drop points in their respective leagues

Carlo Ancelotti’s side suffered a big defeat in the La Liga title race against Valencia on the weekend. Vinicius Jr had an animated game at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. He missed a penalty and also a chance to level the tie. However, he got the equaliser later on from a Luka Modric corner.

Valencia’s Hugo Doro scored the second goal in the last minutes of the game. Real lost the match 2-1 after a poor overall performance.

However, Real Madrid were poor at home on Saturday. And they lost three important points in the title race. While Barcelona also dropped points against Real Betis that same night.

There’s been a lot of talk about Real Madrid’s lack of form this season. And their failure to hold a sense of dominance. Those are not good signs for Carlo Ancelott., The pressure only grows on him with the days that pass. Also, it was the decision to sit Raul Asencio and start Aurelien Tchouameni at center back.

Meanwhile, the Gunners also dropped points against Everton in Saturday’s PL clash at Goodison Park.

Both, Real and Arsenal will be looking to forget about there recent results. They will be heading into their Tuesday’s UCL game with fresh minds.
