A French article reveals Pierre Gasly‘s contract details prior to his switch to the Alpine F1 team in 2023.

Sportune.fr reports that the Frenchman will earn approximately €15 million (£13.2 million) next year, making him one of the top earners in the sport.

His earnings for the 2024 season will depend on the number of races held in the season, but his pay will likely be similar to that of Fernando Alonso this season.

Gasly will take Alonso’s spot in the team as the Spaniard moves to Aston Martin next year. Alonso replaces his friend Sebastian Vettel, who will retire at the end of the season.

Alpine went through a number of driver options to replace the two-time world champion and zeroed in on Gasly, who ended his Red Bull contract early. The original contract was said to run till the end of 2023.

Gasly will be replaced by current Mercedes reserve and FE champion, Nyck de Vries. De Vries made an impressive F1 debut as he replaced appendicitis-stricken Alex Albon.

Gasly has raced in Formula One for Red Bull for a number of seasons, primarily with their sister team AlphaTauri. The Frenchman was promoted to the main team, alongside Verstappen, at the start of the 2019 season but was then dropped following a string of poor performances.

He won his maiden Grand Prix in 2020 in Monza, Italy. He has since finished twice on the rostrum.

Sportune.fr states that Gasly earned approximately €4-5 million (£4-5 million) in 2022 with that figure expected to rise to €10m (£8.8m) in 2023.

Gasly will form an all-French line-up with his compatriot Esteban Ocon, who will stay with the team till the end of the 2024 season.

According to reports, Gasly and Alpine have a two-year contract with an option to extend till 2025.
