The London derby did turn out to be a very interesting game after all. Although the result was not extremely pleasing for both the sides. The game ended in a 1-1 draw. Pedro Neto had the attention of the home crowd with his stunning equalizer. At the same time, Chelsea fans did not fail to notice Noni Madueke. But the winger was in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. Many are not happy with his behavior. So it will be interesting to see if the manager decides to punish him after all.
Madueke storms off: Rio Ferdinand urges Enzo Maresca for punishment
Arsenal were able to create plenty of chances away from home. They would also manage to take the lead in the game. Gabriel Martinelli was on target for them. The Chelsea manager decided to take-off Noni Madueke after the goal. But the 22-year-old winger was very angry. As a result, he would storm off the pitch. Talking on his youtube channel, Rio Ferdinand would urge Enzo Maresca to punish the winger. In fact, would go on to suggest that manager should ask for a two-week fine at the very least.
Maresca’s response
The Chelsea manager would actually go on to defend the winger. He would justify Madueke’s action by stating that he may be furious with his performance and not the decision to bring him off. Also, he would state that it was a tactical decision. We can understand the dedication of the players. But, at the same time, Rio Ferdinand asking Enzo Maresca for a punishment is not wrong either. Squad discipline is important. There are going to be moments of aggression when one is on the field. But, one should also be able to control their temperament after all.
