Manchester United locked horns with West Ham United on Sunday at Old Trafford. Although Manchester won the game with an easy 3-0 scoreline, it was tainted by Lisandro Martinez’s injury. He only returned to action last month and has already made a huge difference to Erik Ten Hag’s team. Though, he may be set to go on another spell at the sidelines after Manchester vs West Ham clash.
The Red Devils’ former icon, Rio Ferdinand, provides a worrying update on the injury of Argentine. He believes that Martinez has damaged his ligaments and can be serious. Speaking on his FIVE podcast, he said,
So, listen, if he’s out, it kills it. You can see with him and Luke Shaw on that side, when they’re together, they look so dominant, they look so confident, they look so composed with the ball.
And those two are really good with the ball in terms of setting up attacks, the ball generally comes from that side. Any of the good stuff we do, Martinez, even you see for the first goal, he clips it in. So that will be disappointing. We’ve had so many injuries and he’s one of them that’s been out of a while and he’s probably one of our most influential players.”
Its a fact that when Lisandro plays, United are a different gravy on the field. They have also been unbeaten in three and drew two games he played in. However, Ten Hag may now be without his key player for a long duration of time.
