Rishabh Pant has been released from the Indian squad in the ongoing ODI series against Bangladesh. The wicketkeeper faced a slight niggle and the decision was taken with the consultation of the medical team.

Statement from BCCI

The BCCI statement read,

“In consultation with the BCCI Medical Team, Rishabh Pant has been released from the ODI squad. He will join the team ahead of the Test series. No replacement has been sought. Axar Patel was not available for selection for the first ODI.”

Pant had a poor 2022 in white ball format. He failed to score big knocks in this format and with the inclusion of KL Rahul in the team, it was difficult for Pant to be a part of the playing 11. KL Rahul is likely to keep wickets.

Sanju Samson has been announced as the replacement for the southpaw. Along with him and KL, India also has Ishan Kishan as the wicket-keeping option in the side.
